A lone leaf

A lone leaf

A Poem by Verina Blanche

A lone leaf

Falling to it's fate

On a sea of death

It's the end

Of a long struggle

To survive

If I could just hold on

A little longer...

But nature is not gracious

She must take her course

And the old

Is swept away and forgotten

To be replaced by the new.

This is so lyrical and moving; I'd like to say heartbreaking... how much we all want to live forever, even an object as simple as a leaf - brilliant work!

What kind of poetic style are you using? I like the simplicity of it all
Cheers to you once again, lea

I enjoyed this, wonderful imagery made it easy to envision.

I've thought about similar things such as how the pedal of a flower dies and dries up and then catches the wind and plants itself some where new for a fresh start. This poem is wonderfully appropriate with Spring right around the corner....
