His mother's eyes

His mother's eyes

A Poem by Verina Blanche
"

I wrote this from the perspective of a character of one of my favorite books. It shouldn't be too hard to guess what it's from.

"

I'm dying

The man with no compassion

has taken away my life.

Just another death

in his path for power.

I have failed.

I was supposed to tell teh boy

everything,

but no one knows I'm here.

No one knows my true intentions.

No one knows that I

kept him safe all this time

for her.

As I fall to the cold floor

I imagine I see the boy

walk into the room.

But I'm not imagining

He is standing before me.

I must let him know the

truth...for her.

I do the best I can,

transferring my memories

to him.

Now he will understand.

And I sit here dying

in front of the boy who hates me.

I can say that the feeling is mutual.

I only protected him

Because he is the son

of the one I love

The one with

the beautiful

green eyes.

And now I'm crying

because I'll never see

those eyes again.

But I must get one last look.

"look at me"

I say to the boy

with his mother's eyes.

I get the feeling this is based on characters in Harry Potter, but I am not familiar enough with the series of books to pinpoint which ones. Lots of drama in this poem. You expressed the emotions of the character very well. There is just enough mystery in this to keep the reader interested. Well written. Lydia
