The Darkness

a darkness that we all have

As he walks closer so does the darkness

    as he sits next to me it engulfs me

        as he talks to me it clenches my throat 

    as he touches me it strangles my heart 

and i know the name of this darkness 

      IT IS FEAR

That dreaded fear that stands between me and happiness 

        it has stood there for such a long time it's claws are deep within my heart

    but now i cant fear any longer so i shall take a sword and slice that fear 

 and grab as much happiness as i can 

       and just hope it all turns out alright

time 7:20 and thinking about someone i want but have trouble saying how i feel to them in a meaningful way ps this may come out a little weird listening to Japanese rock with light Japanese metal

Deciding to defy fear is the first step, when I am dealing with fear, I thinkof it as something I tamp down, stuff in a hole with a big woode mallet and pound a cork in; I know the fear will escape sometimes, but each time it gets easier to tamp it down and it stays down longer. I am winning slowly but surely. Fear is not a foe you can vanquish with a weapon, but rather something you weaken, bit by bit. Acknowledging the fear is half the battle. If you are more comfortable writing your feelingd,you might try that. You are quite a writer, I could feel the fear rising, like a lump in the throat.

Very nice poem for those of us who have been there and understand the kind of fear you speak of. I was there once and cut the fear out too and I have been celebrating my happiness ever sense. Great read.
