Plea of the Speechless Heart

Plea of the Speechless Heart

A Poem by Elvin Ecarma Ruiz
"

This poem is about an unrequited, yet faithful, love. The persona in this poem is a woman who loves no matter what.

"

Oh! You most venerable being

Who causes the hair at the back of my neck to tingle,

My body to involuntarily giggle,

Tears of joy from my eyes trickle;

Oh, your cunning ways most fickle,

Yet awe-inspiringly subtle.

I can’t help but mumble words

Of infinite imageries,

Of ecstatic scenes,

Of feelings of wuthering heights.

Your eyes burn

With incarcerating, warm passion that’s oozing

And your smile had killed thousands of my likings;

You Jack of all infatuating trades

Who effortlessly, with a smirk, steal my foolish heart.

With your enchanting diction,

You take me to an extra-dimensional, third space trance

Which makes me want to dance.

By the looks of you,

My whole body perspires countless drops of sweat,

My heart vigorously palpitates,

And my lungs rapidly respire to breathless extent.

And with these reasons I plead,

Own me, take me, and consume me,

Oh, my Knight in shining armor of fairy tales whatsoever.
