black rabbit of death

black rabbit of death

A Poem by Shane Brooks

black rabbit of death

each man owes a death for the breath in his chest
has to face the fear of not knowing whats next
do you go to todash darkness as your flesh rots
do you go to heaven oh I think not
the black rabbit calls you
and you must go
for what awaits the fallen
awaits us all

If life is a riddle
then deaths mystery
is there justice in the end
will I see you once again
does the darkness wait my friend
is there a clearing at the end

each of us owes a death
each of us owes a death
be it the gun or cancerous breath
each of us we all owe a death

does Jesus save
do we stay in the grave
does it go round and round
do we dissipate

when the black rabbit calls you
you can't refuse
the heartbeat your born with
the breath you will lose

each of us owes a death
each of us owes a death

be it the gun or cancerous breath
each of us we all owe
death
death
comes to us all
hell was on earth
imprisoned my mind
release we find
rebirth in death
or just the end of my time

what awaits the fallen
life's darkest mystery
your fate will come a calling
you'll meet your destiny

each of us owes a death
each of us owes a death
be it the gun
or cancerous breath
each of us we all owe a death
we all owe a death
we all owe a death
