Spiders are Perverts...and Butterflies are Necro

Spiders are Perverts...and Butterflies are Necro

A Poem by Jason Henry
"

random... :?

"

Consolidating sleep, urge

Breathing Sociology,

Time, mind, and the possibility of battery

As I place the banana peel in my microwave.

Strawberry shortcakes, Bostom cream pies

And the like.

Stroke the id, then squeeze.

Refridgerate for the hundred year war.

But i'm ambivalent,

For the mayonnaise is heartless.

I spend my days in deep contrition.

Antihistamine! Forgive me!

The old man is playing a jazz tune at 4 in the morning.

Major 7th notes arpeggiated. Sexy.

But with all my hypocracy, pater noster

Please forgive me.

I never learn to stop forcing poetry.

Nothing in life is actually random, no matter how chaotic, everything fits some pattern, makes some sense in some nonsensical way. There is an eerie flow of jumbled thoughts, meanings, and ideas not quite formed that at first look... look to be no more than that, with the piece all neatly wrapped up for the general consumer with the ending about forced poetry. This work is a striking statement, striking out against all those who would seek to force their ideas into neat little baskets as if they were quaint little boxed lunches. It also speaks of things, those subtle things, those things so sublime, that perhaps - you cannot be completely sane to get... but then again, sane can be so borrrrrring.... :) Well done.

Ok, I HAD to read this once I read the title which made me laugh out loud. The very randomness of this poem make nonsense into something, if not sensical, classical. I enjoyed it very much!

Stroke the id, then squeeze. . . each line was a surprise. Putting it all together, I found I had to read it again. And I really do find that I must stop forcing my poetry. Good words.

But i'm ambivalent,
For the mayonnaise is heartless - I could not agree more!
