Gently Falling

Gently Falling

A Poem by Aleah Bissen

You would sneak to me

in the middle of twilight.

You would sit there with patient ears,

as I howled to you the world's problems,

letting them slip from my shoulders.

You always shined even some light

within my most darkest of nights.

And sometimes, when you were gone,

I would look up at the sky

with anxious, tear-filled eyes;

fear churning in my stomach

at the possibility

that you might not return to me.

Slowly, you would peak out, smiling,

as if to tease me of my childish ways.

Relief burst through my chest

& I smirked at your sly antics.

It was that very moment, I realized,

I, a lone, wolf, had fallen in love

with the moon.
