Insignia de Ego

Insignia de Ego

A Poem by Nankya Yudaya
"

Brittle, try it!

"
She loves! He loves!
Friction knows none of that. Easily drifting into conflict with emotions so real
No it's never planned and no it's never intended to get out of hand
Sometimes salvaged, blissfully falling back to each other's arms
Other times deliberately prolonging the anguish
It pinches whole, she lives the pain, he loses focus
Picking the phone to call and abandoning the idea
Attempting texting but erase
Nibbles! Meditated nibbles on food but no swallowing
They're hungry but full on the emptiness of each other's absence
Footprints of her existence, illusions of his missed charm
But she should call first, he should text first keeps them apart
Expression of a room stocked with Ego

I love you! I love you! I love you!
Heard it all once or twice in a minute
From what depth is it swiftly said?
Carries more weight said less
Uttered much should tramp ego
Why is there still much room for it?
Doubt it ever really mattered to begin with
Why else would you easily ignore the pain you pledged to endure on their behalf?
If it did, promises were mumbled blindly on the full moon under the warm illusion of eternity
But why that much responsibility over dynamics unwarranted?
Eager to impress, Ego to dominate

The enemy within creating animosity without
Fondly accommodated at no extra charge yet expensive to maintain
Blinded at its existence, confused for strength but is it?
Confidently basking in the dark lit maximally in daylight
Reflecting lonesome only to realize its gone too far
It's empty, it's hollow and you know what would fix the ghostly feeling
But no, he should call first, she should text first
No better time to vent into unprecedented mistakes than this
They could be avoided
Ego pays nothing unless they meant nothing

Funny how often this battle begins internally within ourselves before it spreads out to our partners. Eager vs Ego is like the classic Heart vs Head. Most times our minds try to force logic into love.Like why should you always be the one to apologize first? The one to sacrifise more? The one to fight for it again and again. And the Heart (this little sucker) does not give a damn about pride or dignity. It convinces us to dive all in regardless of the consequences. Regardless of whether the one we love is jumping right in with us or not.
The heart is essentially a child that is eager to impress and slow to learn no matter how many times it's broken.

Ps: "They're hungry but full on the emptiness of each other's absence."
i like this line, it depicts the irony of love.

This ranges the full gamut of love in all its flawed moments, it's logical take, it's heart-felt feel, its lateral rationality wrapped in expansive thought. 'Ego pays nothing unless they mean nothing.' I wonder.

This is near a sermon of how to be and not be; a meander into a foggy affair that loses self to wondering if.. .. I wonder why so much power and time is given to a relationship. Why not all that and more isn't focussed on the relationship itself? Such a write; both intense and intriguing. Needs more and repeated study. Superb writing, fact or fiction.

Tell me about it! Love is that institution we blindly (which is never the case really because i believe we're 90% conscious) match in with our well tailored resume', intellect and confidence promising ourselves to be on top of this one, only to watch while our profile is being reduced to nothing and give excuses in defense. We do do this all through life, it never really gets old! Doesn't matter how many times you get bitten, you nurse (that little sucker) and wham, you're trying again. Funny indeed!

Thanks Sonnie for the review
