this is how it ends

this is how it ends

A Poem by ~amanda~
"

unrequited love poems (are there any other kind?)

"

  When I think about you,

I can't recall the good times.

Although I'm sure we had a few.

I can only remember

you looking at me, and then,

"For once, let's do the right thing".
And we never talked again.

It was the right thing to do.

I cleaned my room the other day,

And stumbled upon your flowers.

Those ugly neon daisies you brought me,

On that rainy January day.

I threw them away

And never looked at them again.

Like we never loved at all.

There is something to be said about the length of this piece, and that something to be said is something good. I have seen where works touching on this topic appear to drag on for days, a torture to read that leaves me wishing for that time back. This though, in the length, offers some additional - perhaps subtle - meaning to the piece. If the gentleman in question only left you with the memory of him saying the right thing was to skadoodle, then the gentleman in question was a total d****e. Finding the flowers and tossing them, doing the right thing; so many people might have held on to them - a bitter mistake. A painful memory to be true, but not a memory that you are going to let own you. The length, in my most likely not at all humble opinion, was the right thing.

definitely can feel the sadness here, but i also feel another emotion too... it's what's not said in these lines and the last poem i read from you (one with the money left on the dresser). there's no real deep love from you for this person, like you never truly believed in them. like you just accepted the person as better than being alone. accepting a fate? never settle hon... true meaningful love is out there for everyone.

Faerie Blessings!

I like this poem very much. Nicely written. Great job.

A beautiful write. I've got one of those flowers on my wall. It is reminder of the past... of good times... but those memories are now tarnished, but the flower remains as a reminder of the good and the bad.

This is a very sad end to a relationship. If only the good things didn't have to be darkened by the heartbreak...

Great poem!

i like this. the feeling comes across well. very solemn and a bit cold. it is sad and gives an impressionable insight into the relationship. the daisies are a good reflection of the love lost. a beautiful piece.

don't mind what the person below said about signing your name, it's quite alright. i know of a few writers who do it as well, it doesn't take away from the content. this poem made me feel really sad, with your mention of the forgotten daisies found. i wonder, what sort of action really is the right sort?

I like this..
But just a note/pet peeve you don't have to sign your name.

But other than that, there is a good flow to this.
