The Twa Poets

I oft think back to far off times

O’ diverse ways and different climes

When germs of a' type reigned systemic

But now we're subject tae pandemic

Oor problem is we're noo o'er mony

I fear oor fate's no lookin bonny!

The Scots poet Robert Fergusson

An inspiration for Robert Burns

Born in Edinburgh 1750

Died in ‘Bedlam’ (an asylum) in 1774

Much pleasure in reading this and relishing its sounds and reconstructing its meaning as the reader is not well versed in Scotspeak. That aside, Roberty Burns being one of the topshelf favourites, having the aid of both the original and 'translated' commentaries to help those that miss out on their poems pure state. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Zaynab. I couldn't resist this when I took the photo
Take care.
Alan
Your words here totally diverted me to one of wrotings not so friendly "friendships" here Alan, when Hans Christian Andersen visited Dickens in London and refused to leave. I think he stayed as an unwelcome guest for two months, with Dickens writing to many of his contemporaries slandering Anderson and pleading for assistance to help get rid of him.
Andersen seemed oblivious to thos and always referred to their close friendship, even when Dickens hatred of him became public.
I guess that's what a friendship is, knowing when to call time and leave.
I do believe you have captured the humour only a true friendship can bring.
And as for Bedlam... They knew how to call a pot a pot back then, didn't they?
Cannae see that happenin' in these days of hashtags and feeling triggered 😀
