One Word

One Word

A Poem by alanwgraham
"

A word slips out -then its too late!

"

One word

One word

Oh no!

That’s four!

Too late!

I’ve got to eight!

This bloody thing is getting out of hand!

I’m up to sixteen,

Oh fuk!

But that’s the way of it with words

You lose count

Then something slips out

You didn’t mean!

Love this! I like how it is questioning its self, and calling its self out

Haha! What a delightful read. I like the style of write here. It keeps mocking at itself and later it does one you. Enjoyed reading it :)

Write in German, some of their words are longer than an Elephants dick. :)

Those often are the most memorable kind! :)
I love poems that are self consciously about themselves. Although, this might be read simply as a playful swipe at those who who would ask for 'a word' and then proceed to give you many more than that, it's ironic payoff 'something slips out you didn't mean' is richly suggestive.
