When things go wrong!

When things go wrong!

A Story by alanwgraham
"

A description of a possible origin of bipolar - a disturbance inside the sun leads to a solar flare which travels to the earth in 8 min. The radiation damages the DNA of a stone age man leading to bip

"

When things go wrong!

(the origins of bipolar disorder)

In the beginning  … was the void

A wee bit later … matter came in to being - I think the juries still out on how!

Lots later  …..   (I’m deliberately being imprecise!)   Our star - the sun - entered stage left - one of hundreds of billions, on an outer limb of the vast spiral galaxy we call the Milky Way,

aeons ago an event happened .....

it was nothing more than the waft of a butterflies wing but for wo/mankind it  has had untold and immeasurable results

of which the tally may not be reckoned until the last human - or perhaps in the future a notquitesohuman (after all we are all descended from slime) expires spectacularly in a COSMIC bang or disappears without a whimper, hungry and thirsty, as the earth cooks in its CO2 greenhouse

(turn off your f***** telly right now please!)

This is the story of one gene - unwitting, minding its own business, lurking in a nook

in a spiral

deep in the mind bogglingly vast edifice that replicates the human race

now …. back …. back …. back …. back …. I mean way, way back

we’re now in the star

deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep in the star

space and time mean nothing in here  (Einstein and Hawking had a clue!  but I wouldn’t exclude Pauli from this in principle " sorry that’s a physicist’s insider joke)

constantly writhing coils of hydrogen and helium

in states of matter we cannot even imagine

constant thermonuclear reactions

Hiroshima, a mere match strike

Will soon unleash unimaginable consequences upon the human race

A surge of subatomic particles and electromagnetic waves surge outward from a solar flare

In the time that you would pass three stations on the Bakerloo line (only about 8 minutes!) they have passed

Mercury - (a planet definitely not in a spin and the days are rather long!)

Venus - (not much love here now - but might have been on my holiday list until global warming got it - but that's another story and there weren’t even any Venusians about to bugger things up!)

Earth  - that’s us!

Just as….

Aeons ago, a manlike creature looked up at a dazzling flicker of green and blue in the northern sky

At that instant the unwitting gene in a sperm cell (right testicle!) takes a direct hit from a high speed particle …   things start to go awry.

We’re not talking world trade centre here it was more like knocking one block from the lego house

Only a few atoms or molecules from the DNA sequence

But … a big but!

Just wait till that bashed up sperm achieves its life purpose

Then unravels its consequences

Depression

Madness

Suicide

But also flashes of genius ..

think big! …

Beethoven Dickens Newton Van Gogh

on generation after generation

Even until the ends of time

The story now becomes a story of personal journey into the Marianas trenches and Everest’s of manic depression.

'When things go wrong'
alanwgraham,
The desire of humanity to process their own life condition just sings out in your piece. You did a great job of connecting experience with possible explanations within our own professional scientific belief system. It was a blast to read. I did not know what to expect next. So nice to see how others process their own personal world.
Blessings to you and yours,
Kathy

I see. So with that spoiler that I received. This piece is kinda awesome!
It has three alternate dimension.

I try to write abstract work, "Village of Blame." I don't know if it's a fail, but I treasure it.

Anyway, my writings isn't due to my feelings, it's due to my obsession. I love painting worlds with colors, so as well as with words, with the help of my research.

Man Man Man, what man?
I don't know if I took it on a different perspective or you really meant it like that.
:D

But, the way you create the imagery is awesome, but the whole meaning I took it on different perspective.

Thanks. The story behind this is that many inherited conditions such as bipolar may have originated .. read more
Not too sure I understand this?
