Tonic

Tonic

A Poem by alan peter kelly

solitude saturates
(overwhelming)

since your
departure

soma and soul
have ground

to dimlit
standstill

you are wholly
adequate

solely on the tip
of my every forethought

to say i miss you is
definitive understatement

you are the tonic solfa
in the key of love

the helix wrapped around
my plain/base metal

which is now replaced
by metaphoric candlelight

on window ledge
both day and night

in golden expectation
of your swift return

to my embrace

Breathtaking and my new favorite.
I want to show my extreme respect for this poem by leaving it at that.
