alcohol and moontans

alcohol and moontans

A Poem by alan peter kelly

interminable night

dawn forever arrives

as a variation

in the texture

of air

a cold sweat

lapsing into forgotten

soon after the vague

sepia tincture

ceases its creep

along warm

archaic carpet

in here

barflies greet a dawn

with bent elbows

chump change

and a phosphorous

amalgam of alcohol

perfume / cigarette breath

and

as many a time

i feign ignorance

to each new

impending end

there is always

the day outside

challenging me

to remove

the costume

put my hands

where it can

see them

and exit

quietly

into order

Always your words are fluid blending unto one another.

the title is so instantly a call for attention. powerful. and you carry that through with a wry, yet nostalgic tone..

(one thing, which you're prolly correcting as i type this: "always" ;))
