~You Climbed Into My Torso And Stayed~

~You Climbed Into My Torso And Stayed~

A Poem by alan peter kelly
"

I was thinking about my friend Victoria Selene Skye Deme today. It's not an uncommon line of thought.

"
Rarely
I'm in holes

deep as this
and little comfort

knowing I will
dig my way out

as I've always done.

Despite
being hardened

by years
of too much sun

and not
enough light

tear ducts
betray me

those salty
little traitors

one by one

quietly tumble down
this old stony face

some lodging
themselves

between the cracks
of time

and scarified debris
along the way.

I see your
paradise eyes

that stained
glass aura

alien pale skin.

Reminiscence
rises from

this apparent
nothingness

becomes so
pronounced.

Even from a tomorrow
I have yet to reach

and you have found

from what may be light
but from where

I only see
the dark

all around

clouds separate
arms unfold

you reach out
find and

embrace me.

Selene.

I still burn
from your fire

even
in memory.
