My Emptiness Forgets Itself.

My Emptiness Forgets Itself.

A Poem by alan peter kelly

This poem belongs to Victoria Selene Skye Deme. Rest in Peace, Surreal Queen.

"
My light
still
shines bright
inside
this ageing
monolith
of flesh
and blood
and bone.

yawning
its way
to end
of final day
declension.

written
on breath
and tongue
and teeth
and
ardent
memory

of every
close up
moment
shared...

these days

at very
least

I have myself
to keep myself
amused

so yes

my light has
carried on
regardless
of delusion
that I may
have ever
had a say
within
its sway

that it
be otherwise.

you made
my emptiness
forget itself

the gleaming
high noontide
hides such depth

yet still

it's all there
wrapped around
and inside
the caress

of you

and only
one
of you

and
I feel
blessed.

I like the way your poetry flows downward in small riffs much like my own. For me, it gives a more language
friendly tone. I write just as I speak. This feels like a calm memory. To love one is life itself and even when they are gone, it is a treasure!

I too can also forget, if only for a moment, when bathed in that noontide light. Your self-reflection reminds us of our own.
