I Don't Love You

How do you tell someone that loves you, you will never feel the same?

Look them in the eyes and destroy their heart, feeling nothing but shame. 

I tried so hard to love you, a shadow was standing in my way,

He captured my heart, I can't leave him, I want to stay. 

You will always have a part of me, I care for you so much,

You just aren't him and I’m sorry, I crave his soft touch. 

I hope you find the one, I really do. 

Who looks at you like a beautiful sunset view. 

I wish it could be me, I thought you were my forever,

I was wrong, our connection was not right, whatsoever. 

Life will go on, we will be okay,

I’m sorry again things turned out this way.

For life tends to not be fair,

Here’s me saying I don't love you,

If only people would actually say this to you instead of playing games and leading you on. I'm sorry, I just went through something this passed week that's related to this kind of thing. Just wish she had the nerve to tell me. This piece brings out the struggle in the situation and provides the point of view that all of us want to see. Thank you.
