loveA Poem by avayaEleven people told me they loved me, With their chest, it seemed, they would never leave me So I leaped with my heart, as all the stories told, True love meant the world! Nothing else would truly hold The fairytale continued, like all the words I’d ever read It would win against all evil, it would always triumph in the end It would swoop in like a white knight, saved from all your regrets True love means the world! Love is life is what they said But had they considered, for a second, what was true? Had they considered love as just a fairytale they barely knew? If love meant the world, then why is it so broken? If love was truly true, then why are you left unopened? Why have they all run away as you tumble down the harshest paths For a moment, I wonder, how much have we all had? For love, it may be life But life can be so unbearable So what is life without love? A path that stays quiet, we remain all unspoken It remains slow and dark and bleak It remains life without the weak Pain comes as it goes, and love ceases to exist We die off uncharted, unknown, and reach a lonesome bliss Would you choose life with or without love? In your experience, does the fairytale fly above, All reason and all logic, do you allow yourself to feel? Do the horrible parts of life feel as bearable as they do real? © 2021 avaya |
