brick wall

brick wall

A Poem by avaya

Silhouette of my mind painted in black

Streaks and lines of white begin to crack

Subtly faded into stone so old it crumbles

It belongs to a place that holds a weary building

I stare across a wall that seems never-ending

Wondering why I came here of all places

This belongs to the death of my one true love

The one who couldn’t stay to seal the cracks in these walls

So it crumbles and shakes for something else to come

My feet remain stuck to the ground like a burden I must carry

Brick and stone fall upon me, piece by piece, they yearn to consume me

For a moment, I wonder if you’d want me more

Than the hallow, brick wall that has nothing left to hold
