a little bit of life

a little bit of life

A Poem by avaya

A fall from grace,

My heart wanders the land of the living

And the trail that follows feels like a fog of my soul bleeding

My heart’s race,

It's a tiresome, lonely fight of fear

My effort to escape the ones I love and hold so dear

I drag prints of my mistakes

and the regrets of my past soul

I cherish the ones that told me that I’d never make it old

I live bright

until the skies turn from yellow into gold

I wonder when my heart will deter me from this road

My head hangs low against my chest

I reside in shallow breaths

It takes me far against my will into my lonesome, blackened depths

The sea that is my mind

It washes over me as it blinds

I wander aimlessly inside,

As I say my last goodbyes.

The water from my eyes blends itself into the night,

My remaining life turns into dust that sparkles in the light

I ask the moon to take its arms and reach out for my last cries

And something trickles down my spine, the warmth and love of this new life

With the moon and the stars

For once, the darkness seems so bright

Alas, this path has been bitter, yet equally sublime

I has been reading Peter Sanxon book on writing poems. I like he saying poems leave room for the audience to imagine and how they perceive. I just thought there is lack of subtlety. I struggle too to get this done.
