The UnicornA Story by A.BI couldn’t stand her suffering any more especially that I knew the reason of her suffering. So I gave myself to her and decided to become the thing she needed the most, to become the treasure she had lost. I couldn’t do it, I’m no wizard, didn’t have any potions to drink or spells to cast, so all I could do was pray, pray to God to end her misery and end my helplessness.
That night I had a dream….a dream that wasn’t just a regular dream. There was a forest and a lake, it was a dark night but the full moon kept us company. She came to me breathing heavily, looking lost and faded with sorrow. She couldn’t see me, I was on the other side of the lake. I looked at my reflection in the water of that lake but I couldn’t see “me”. I was changed by the second glance, I turned into a vague silhouette of a unicorn. I walked towards her slowly. Yes, I walked on the lake, the water carried me gracefully! Then I was right in front of her, I got back to my form, legs, arms, body and hair but I was still a silhouette! It was dark yet peaceful. I gave her a pat on the shoulder, kissed her forehead and flew around her… she smiled … and her eyes finally shone again. I stepped nearer to her and started whispering, a low, deep unclear whisper, it didn’t make sense but she heard what I said: “I am here to give you life, to give your pride and strength back, to give you self-satisfaction. I promise you will live in war but die in peace.” She replied “Are you my … ?”. Silence came back, she didn’t complete her words, I disappeared! That was the dream. I woke up and couldn’t wait to see her. I dressed hurriedly and ran to her house, she opened the door, she had a smile on her face, like the smile in the dream and the first thing she said to me was “Don’t you just love unicorns?” © 2012 A.B |
