The Greed for LifeA Chapter by Akshay Rawalhave you ever been a water-saving miser?Deep down under a mountain creak;
A hill-man lay broken-legged, no food, just a few arbitraries. And half a bottle of water..he has been sending the SOS via a torch. he gets a reply. Certainly it would take time, Till the next gloaming, When he gets up the rock. He unwinds the cap. He last drank it , maybe two days ago. Some pond would probably quench his thirst,leaving it dried. He takes a sip , no relief. He fears "Drink it up now and have nothing of it at the next dusk." The bottle wears it's cap. The moon comes to visit him. And an animal sounding like a llama cries the last time. He is even more thirsty,and certainly pushing himself above limits,fumbles for the bottle. He thinks to drink again. Again, his fear pauses his fetch. "Too precious this is, sleep will never let me urge for thirst. It shall be taken as the day begins." He bars his eyes from vision and his dry-as-a-cactus throat feels like poked by a thousand sharp pins, But the accumulated fatigue drives him into black . Too tired to dream. The sun makes him nearly blind,temporarily,next day. His throat has turned a drought-land. Finds it hard even to gulp, and abandons the water in that bottle for ever. His biggest greed , life.A man who thought "you live , only then you can have everything else", averted his sight from life since the previous day. © 2015 Akshay Rawal |
