Monster

Monster

lyrics - written summer 2009

"

We had a tight plan built with loose nuts and bolts

just waiting to fall apart if ever we'd stumble.

You made a promise to me that I could trust

you without ever wanting to give up or getting fed up.

But for every light line that you'd whisper to me

was an echo of it that you would scream

you wanted much more than I could ever give.

And for every bright eye that'd stare into mine

was another you'd keep closed all the time

You took much more from me than I could give.

But I'm fine lying broken here.

Said I'm fine, I’m fine.

Anger is not something I am used to

at least not when it comes down to you.

(comes down to you)

And I'm tired of making sense of all that's gone wrong;

Why'd you have to go and prove that you were strong?

(You know I'm not strong...)

I keep hoping you're something that you're not.

I keep hoping you're something that you're not...

(repeat - simultaneously:)

I keep thinking you're the monster under my bed

Can't seem to get you out of my head.

What's with these nightmares?

You know they're not fair.

(repeat)

And I'm fine lying broken here,

Said I'm fine....
