Friendship

Friendship

A Poem by akoy_hiyas

What is the essence of friendship, I wonder,
Is it measured by the moments we share and ponder?
Or is it found in the silence we keep,
In the bonds we forge, and the secrets we keep?

For a friend is one who stands by your side,
In both the darkness and the light.
Whose care and love never fade away,
Even when life leads us astray.

But alas, in my moments of despair,
I find no solace or comfort there.
For in my hour of deepest need,
None are there to hear my plea.

So I ask again, with a heavy heart,
Who among them are truly a part?
Of the bond that we call friendship,
Whose loyalty will never slip?

True it is that friends and friendship comes in many different levels and it can be devastating when the hours "of deepest need" come and the fiends are unable or unwilling to keep loyalty with us. Your piece is well stated and structured flows nicely and has a message worthy of your words. Be well and thanks for the post. -carl
