When the Wave Crashes

A poem about my experience in having anxiety.

My heart trembles and shakes

Not able to rid of this horrid taste

Dipped in poison

My thoughts seize

Almost frozen

Quivering with fear

The process plays by ear

My feet stand in place 

Is this my fate?

A flutter in my chest  

Can't my brain go to rest 

Feeling trapped in a frenzy

Other people's minds I envy

Wishing for it to end

There's a pounding in my head

It's saying I'm hanging by a thread

My breathing calms down

Is it over now?

The tears on my face start to dry

I look a mess

But at least I'm fine

I read this because my grandson suffers with anxiety and panic attacks, and you have described well in your poem the avalanche of emotions you go through when having a panic attack. They may not last long, but for the person suffering it's like going to hell and back. When it happens for the first time, you think you are going to die, but then you almost start to get used to them and know you will pull through. Being creative and expressing your feelings will help, anything creative will help. I wish you well. This is well written.
