This Temptress Called MuseA Poem by AKFor Pagemasters Challenge #12
Inspiration desired... before she retires
What must a writer do?
Ideas all around, some quite profound
As temptation bequeaths golden hue.
The words often flow, from whence we can’t go
So we write with a fury unknown
Of things quite unseen, just the feel of the thing
In story, in prose, in poem
We want only to share our experience while there
At her feet, this great mistress called muse
Before we forget, or she withdraws just a bit
And her grace we unbearably lose.
She oft gives too much, or not quite enough
We never know surely her mood
Perhaps she'll just go, revealing her soul
Leaving that which sustains better than food.
