Circles

Circles

A Poem by AK
"

I've never tried one of these before...

"

Concentric circles of impatience
An eagerness to be there
Never having really settled into these confines
Time seems lazy, lethargic

Inside a longing builds

Growing impatient, having seen enough… at last
Of this and that, nondescript really… forgettable

Hours are more like weeks now
Others I know and care for feel it too
Maybe it won’t be so long after all...
Every day lately seems to reconfirm it

Never has the need been stronger
Or the anticipation greater...
While we watch for and await our day

Even if you do not care for the poem, you gotta love the eagle. Click the photo to enlarge. There is a place just down the road from my house where they congregate. Anytime I need an eagle photo I just drive to the spot and take my pick of twenty or thirty birds. They really are remarkable creatures. This one kept flying by just to be sure I got a good shot.

I like that last line, but it doesn't seem to end with a punch, it doesn't really need to that is. it is good where it stands. Perhaps the poem isn't done yet. Does it have more to say? Maybe it is just me wanting it to go on lol. Who knows. It is good stuff. Keep it in mind and you might never know if it shall speak to you again.

A fine acrostic. Being away from home most of the year, I can relate with most of what you've written. Well penned.

hahaha I think your author's note rocks!!! The eagle is quite nice. Yet the poem itself is nice too. I love howy the reader can feel the impatient emotions growing as you read. Nicely done.

I think it is a marvelous acrostic, I really wouldn't change anything about it, Dale. My favorite part is "Time seems lazy, lethargic." That's an excellent descriptive of how time feel when it drags on by. Just waiting, one of the things I've always dreaded.

I think it is very inspirational!! Yay, kudos'!

I understand how your train of thought could follow along these lines, D. I am very frightened where we are headed, and it seems there is one perceived as our "saviour" walking amongst us. I can hardly stand to watch/read what the press is putting out next ~ I don't know that I've ever seen such one-sidedness as this. To me, these days have felt like the end of the free world as we know it.

I'm sure your feelings go much deeper than this, but this is the first upheaval that comes to my mind ~ actually hardly leaves, and such a downfall for our country beyond a "massive" scale.

Well done, my friend.

I was with you until the last line. The poem was splendid until the last line. The last line my friend; omit it, replace it, do something with it other than leaving it there. It is like a second ball thrown into the outfield along with the home-run the batter just launched. this is a wonderful spell about the mundane and I sense you could of kept going, dragging us deeper into this nondescript place, but you seem to kill it off with that last line. Sorry.
