Something

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Something has been missing from her seasons.
Something base, soul-deep, undefined.
A desire, a need, a hunger?
A what, a where…
A who? No! Seeking “who” has proven error.

Nothing with breath satisfies now.
Yet, a constant drawing...
A presence too fleeting to be seen...
Too kind to be ignored...
Too gentle to be forgotten.

This is more.
This is borne in every silent recollection...
Every deliberate dream...
Each strong-coffee morning and long drive over the mountain…
Every agony calmed by a reminder of the promise.

Is this heard or felt? It is, in the cool of the evening.
The echoes of night abate as the comforter surrounds.
Tomorrows begin in promise.
Possibilities of today unfurl… delicately.
Exiled hopes finally welcomed home.

Oh, my! One long elegant breath of cool mountain air. A promise of hope and care and comfort. These words are inspired. I'm doubly pleased to add this to my favorites. First, because I have such respect for you and your writing. Second, because I suspect this has something to do with Solst's projects. We do inspire each other so much and it's wonderful thing to celebrate that.

Tomorrows begin in promise. Yes, thankfully no one can take hope away from us. This poem is lovely, Dale.

This is beautifully written with a lift all its own. Words that affirm - gentle - like a cool breeze, rain...articulate, resonant penning here. I just want to stop and breathe the words in

What a great opening line!
And the rest that follows lives up to the standard set.
A fantastic write from start to finish.
Kudos!

Wow absolutely wonderful. I loved these lines:
"Something has been missing from her seasons.
Something base, soul-deep, undefined."
And..
"Nothing with breath satisfies now."

You certainly have a way with words :D

Gosh, D. Do you know what an honor it is to know that my ramblings inspire words such as these? It's magical the way you gently turn sadness into something so hopeful and beautiful. You are amazing. And sometimes, wrapped in comforter and drifting, I swear I can hear the trees whispering . . .

This is lovely and inspiring ~ and so Dale. ;-) Thank you. Just ...... thank you for being you.
