The Rest of Their Profile

The Rest of Their Profile

A Poem by AK
"

It just drives me nuts...

"

So many great free thinkers here
and those who write to live
Youngsters who have seen too much
older folks with more to give

Together we hold each other up
inspire, guide, and train
Encourage, read, and evaluate
take it to a higher plane

Some forge dynamic friendships
that will last for years to come
Others just come to post their work
they’ve got to get it done

But whatever makes us click the link
no matter what our style
There‘s nothing more disappointing than…
"You must be this writer's friend to see the rest of their profile.”

OH! I didn't expect that ending! Good job! It surely does limit access, and truthfully, sometimes I am happy for the privacy it affords ......... and other times I would like to know m.o.r.e. ......... like before accepting a friend request, ya? Quick question, should plain be plane?

Enjoyed this, D. Well done! Thank you!

lol! i love this!
So do we need to see the profile to enjoy their poetry? of course not, but it would be nice to see if the poetry is mirrored in the person.
very well written too, flows very nicely, and the end is a wonderful turn!

I'm not doing this in payment for your review of mine - the poem itself makes its own invitation. The reader glides to the end on a prepoderance of monosyllabic words only to rest firmly on the last line. Your creative stop breaks the limits of friendship. You here crave for a world where experience shouldn't be earned on the platter of familiarity.

Absolutely Great! I love it ... So true, except for every now and then you glance thru that persons writing and realize it just wouldn't matter what their bio says ... know what I mean? lol

This really is great writing, I love it!
I just sent a request, btw .... LOL

Agreed! And you say it so well and with such style. The rhyme sets up the message to perfection, and the last stanza is brilliant. Dead stop. Period.

You are right of course. There is natural elegance in this. It feels stable, certain and it makes me feel your sinews.

I am just being introduced to Emerson and Whitman, by Lewis Hyde, so It comes as an extra special pleasure to feel the embrace of their words here, indirectly of course- more of a spiritual thing, which lives in me too I believe, albeit not fully realized yet. You create a very calming atmosphere in my mind, which I must thank. I look forward to reading more of your inspired words.
