As His Glory Starts to Shine

As His Glory Starts to Shine

A Poem by AK
"

The only way I know to worship God... in spirit and in truth!

"

How the people love to play
in the Spirit of the Lord
As the choir sings of coming things
and what He has in store
The piano leads the chorus
the drummer marks the time
The sopranos raise their voice in praise
as His glory starts to shine.

The saints are on their feet now
there’s no safe place to stand
Everyone is reaching out
you can watch God touch each hand
The stuffed shirts loose their stuffing
and Pastor thinks that’s fine
God is pleased to dwell right there
as His glory starts to shine.

The guitars keep up the rhythm
as the amplifiers strain
They must be heard above the saints
‘cause God’s coming back again
The sax hits all the high notes
the bass growls out its line
 tons of logs start shakin’
as His glory starts to shine

Now if you’re outside looking in
you’d say “they’ve gone berserk”
And most of us once thought that too
but now it’s just “good church”
So come on in, we’ve got some room
but we don’t have lots of time
You won’t believe the change you’ll feel
as His glory starts to shine.

REALLY! Now that's church. I was so hesitant about professing my affiliation with a charismatic/pentacostal church (we actually say we're a 'christian family church) for the past couple of years (after spending 15 years in Lutheran Church Missouri Synod...very reserved bunch they are) but I am finding myself getting over it.
Exactly as this one so wonderfully displays - there is and should be TRUE joy in worshipping. When we stifle the joy, we stifle our spirits.
I love this one. I'd love to hear it set to music.
Thanks for the nudge to come clean about my affiliations.

BRAVO -- your poem made me smile. I must say and I'm a tough critic, hard to please as a woman can be, lol this is good!

Well, I've seen the inside of a quiet, boring church service...not by choice either, was a kid...and I'm sure the people who attended that would have been appalled at all the singing and carrying on you enjoy. Wow...hope you don't pop your eardrums next time! You do a good job showing your enthusiasm for your church, great!

I probably would've done well enough to say "the entire last stanza," but I wanted to do it this way ... this is lovely and it brings back many memories that haven't been so far removed from me of late. It is good to read it, feel it and know it is still out there going strong.

This is lovely my friend, just lovely.

I think it is more about the faith then the name on a building. It is what our hearts know is true. The joy
we find in sharing the love of God with others and feeling it in our own lives. This is a great write and a
wonderful testimony to your faith in God.

Ak..this is a great piece..you must go to the type of a church that i go too..I love the thought that each time my hand goes up in praise,,His hand touched mine! Nice line.....I expect in that little log cabin church..there is many who can feel His Spirit and know that even if they worship a little louder and more pentecostal.. He loves it an dHe hears their prayers..God bless..Valentine

Ah YES! I did read this. And I believe I was in one of those 'nonplussed' states and planned to return ...

The mental image of standing outside in the snow ... craving the 'warmth' [if you get the myraid meanings] inside, watching the roof lifting in small puffs of steam like the chugging of the "engine that could" .... wondering, wanting the truth to be so ...... yet the entire little log structure aglow in an etheral incandenscence .... beconning ... and bloody well rocking like some cartoonish pressure cooker ready to explode to the ....... heavens.

love you ...
