Music Surrounds Us

Music Surrounds Us

A Poem by AK
"

Music is life!

"

Music is the breath of the soul.

It moves us, it calms us, it wakes us up. It stirs us, it makes us laugh out loud, and it makes us weep like a child.

What else can do that?

Only God, and Love, and Music.

These three have always worked hand-in-hand and it's no wonder life can be so empty without any one of them.

We each have our own taste in music but it affects us the same.

Your Nine Inch Nails is my Stevie Ray Vaughan. I can put one of his CDs on and nothing, nothing can deter me from success.

Other times it's Andrea Bocelli singing to me in Italian through my headphones with my eyes closed and tears streaming down my face (I don't understand a word of Itailian).

Eric Clapton sings a song that is absolutely embedded in my soul.

Keb Moe makes me smile with his lyrics while Bob James' Serenisimma makes me forget about time completely and takes me to one certain place I need to be every now and then.

If God has the recipe of life then Love is the cake and Music is the icing.

Some of my most memorable times spent with God have been sitting in my room playing my guitar for Him. Nothing special, just playing what I want Him to hear.

He always settles in beside me to listen. He is always there.

Many of the songs I've written are the result of these "command performances". So many times as I've played for Him He's given me the words that complete the song. I always have a notebook and pen handy just in case. Often I can't see the paper to write for the tears flooding my eyes.

Music is the other gift from God. The extra bonus for loving Him.

Crank it up!

I soooooo agree with you .. music is precious, life's heart listening to Man's rhythm in His world.

Love, music, sight, the sense of touch and the Lord being there alongside - my recipe for life.

Ak, this is such a devine poem! I like how you mix the modern with the ultimately known forever blessings to create such a special portrait. I'm such a fan of all three: GOD, love and music!

Couldn't say it better myself...
If God wrote the recipe of life
then Love is the cake
and Music is the icing

And to think, I'm always eating icing without cake :)

Oh My God, I so adore this poem! I totally agree with you on all levels. Music has the ability to make and break moods. If you are wanting a peaceful feeling you call have Mazzy Star playing loudly... As I Lay Dying just wouldn't cut it. Although they have their place and time.

If God wrote the recipe of life
then Love is the cake
and Music is the icing

Isn't it funny! I just wrote a msg re: music by which to write. Oh yeah. I have thought about this SO many times. Language, religion, societal tenets, political bents vanish with the tapping of a toe .... Truly, music is the universal kinship. Without exception, we can come together. God knew what he was doing.

"Some of my most memorable times spent with God
have been sitting in my room playing my guitar for Him"

And now I can hardly see. Crank it up, indeed. And I know I was meant to sing like Celine Dion ~ God just forgot, that's all. But I found the solution. Crank it up. No one can tell! Be sure you have your headphones on. That helps, too.

Blessed are you with the ability to play the guitar, and so you do share it with Him. I can see Him next to you, snugged in, quite proud of Himself.

Beautiful, D.
