First Love

First Love

A Poem by AK

The love we felt that first day or night
when Jesus took us in
And the flooding peace we still recall
as He brushed away our sin
The days that followed… then months, then years
the altars where we’ve grown
First Love must stay kindled
if we’re to make it home.

Our days now pass so quickly…
so much darker than before
CNN and the internet
report horrors by the score
Many we meet feel hopeless…
lives wasting with no sure home
Just as each of us would be
if First Love we’d never known.

So oft when God reminds me
I race to write it down
For I know He deals the same with all
who’ve taken up a crown
His spirit will sustain us, yes!
for the short time that remains
But First Love must stay kindled
if we’re to rule and reign.

Thank you so much for the beautiful reminder. It's so easy to get lost in the swamp of worldly troubles.

Gives me goosebumps! God is soooo awesome. This is like a warm blanket being wrapped around you, and you being lifted up to set on Papa's lap.
