In The Cool of the Evening

In The Cool of the Evening

A Poem by AK

vs. 1
In the cool of the evening
when the heat of day had gone
God would go to Eden’s garden
to see His created son
They would walk together talking…
the God of glory and His friend
Soon you and I will walk with Him
our evening never end.

Chorus
Cold and darkness will not enter
that garden oh so fair
We’ll walk hand in hand with Jesus
when we gather over there
Restful steps in the evening
where the cool waters flow
At last, with Him, so precious...
we’ll be home.

vs. 2
Look ahead to forever
cares of life all seem to dim
We’ll have time everlasting
just to walk and talk with Him.
We’ll be home - our long wait over
oh the joy that we’ll know then
Our long walk in the evening
will never end.

This echoes Longfellow and paints feelings of peace and tranquility. In the novels of Appalachian author Silas House, there is a concept that "God is in the trees". I like that. Modern churches are just too modern for a girl that spends so much time in historic places. Another blessing.
