From A Virgin, Trying to Make the Most of Time

A response to Robert Herrick's poem "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time." As everything posted here, this was written when I was 18 and moody. Enjoy.

It’s hard to gather rosebuds,

Living in a dying metropolis

Where the flowers don’t smile

They’re already dead

 

I have tried to find,

Looked for beauty in the park

But then a hobo came

And swore at me to leave his home
