Cancer ManA Poem by akarustyIdea I have toyed with for a while. Still a bit uncertain about it. Let me know your thoughts.
Cancer Man Let me speak, if I may Of the soul I know As the Cancer Man. Who lives his remainder In an observational shell Meandering In intended good nature. Who is self-diagnosed With a fictitious cancer That treats a hidden sickness. Whose symptoms include Indefinite time of life Left living until retirement Which ironically keeps him ticking. He constantly watches Other souls he meets Scrawling mental notes, Diagnostically cross-referencing Those previously made Looking for the flaws Of human existence. Like the only sober member Of a social gathering, The only soul accountable For other people’s actions Whilst ascertaining a smile All the while choosing To ignore the pain. For to the Cancer Man All others welfare Surpasses his own. Ignoring other cancers Like his jealousy And inconclusive failure To reach an ultimatum. © 2008 akarustyReviews
