Passing outA Story by Amanda
The world spun around her as she plunged headfirst into the dismal abyss. Her mind is void of all rational thought. Panic swallowing her with ease and completely engulfing her. She tries desperately to scream, but is silenced by the increasing pressure mounting on her chest. Head spinning from lack of oxygen, she concentrates all of her energy into getting just one more sweet breath, but is not able to.
Raggedly gasping for air like a fish out of water, she thinks only of her family. Her beautiful broken family, that always loved her, not who they could make her. Until she threw them away. Why? Why didn't she just choose them? For the first time, she knows what it feels like to truly be alone. The world slowly dims and blurs around her, and her body goes numb. She drifts in her mind and she rides the euphoria. For the first time since she can remember, she is free from the pain, the pressure, the collapsing force of the world atop her chest. She doesn't want to wake up. The pain in her chest is released and she now feels like she is afloat on a cloud. She is free from her bonds, she is no longer a prisoner. The feeling is fresh and new. She marvels in it for a second, but then she is ripped back to life and the world crashes once again onto her chest. A quiet, indescribable sound tears from her throat, and she is once again alone.
