Red and Gray

Red and Gray

A Poem by A.J. Thompson
"

A poem about depression.

"
Squeeze me dry
and let me rot
Or keep me for yourself.

Out in the sun
You chop me up
And spread me mercilessly
To take advantage.

Diced and cut
Cooked and fried
You handle me with ill intent

You treat me like a tomato
Ripe for the picking
Except tomatoes don't feel.

that is very eloquent...you have encapsulated in a few ripe words and colored images the dual horror of love..only the truly brave fall passionately in love -.the bit about the tomato took me by surprise..that they don't feel, that is open to debate..dual, is a reference to abandonment and total selfishness..but true vegetables don't worry...your poem has great rhythm i think and was over before i was aware and ended with a laugh...and well done A.J.first day here..bit nervous..

Tomatos don't feel................reminds me of Kurt Cobain "It's ok to eat fish cause they don't have any feelings"

Lots of hurt and torture in this. Hopefully you didn't experience it.

Very pointed imagery… Love cuts deep and often when it's only selfishly returned.

It's a poem about depression, so if that's what you got from it then yes!!!
I like it very pleasant reading

Definitely unique, love the comparisons!
The red here can mean so much more too.
The life that flows through us, or out of us.
Whatever the case may be.
Today I'm an optimism so I'm travelling the happy path and going to say 'through'
