Silver Lining

for a very special friend

I hate it when your mood is sad and lonely

I sense it when you’re low and feeling very down

 

I want to squeeze you tight and stroke your silky hair

To hold your lovely face and kiss away that frown

 

I understand your aching, your needing to belong

My voice to reassure you and tell you I’ll be there

 

That dark clouds get blown away by soothing wind and sun

I know that you’re a fighter, and inside you are strong

 

The grey times will get brighter, you’re not the only one

Your journey is unfolding, a path that will be shown

 

Places and people to fill your soul and make your day

New faces, new races, and moments to treasure

 

Tears and laughter, but through it all you won’t be alone

Because you have so much to give as you make your way
