Chained to the Void

Chained to the Void

A Poem by aj milton
"

My words - your interpretation..... My first ever poem (since infant school!)

"

You were designed by logic

I was created by emotion

Your joy is numbers, mine is words

Your world is black and white

Mine a pallet of possibilities

You are active and gregarious

I was relaxed and centred

Opposites attract and so we did

North and South slam together, hard to break

I could not stay away from your burning candle, consumed, aglow

Love is blind, intertwined, all joined, ecstasy, two become one and yet more

You made me whole, you helped me grow

You eased my ache

But that was then, another time, same place

Harmony dissolved and out of synch

And now I am worthless, oft ignored, no value, just a scoreboard

My heart still chained to an empty void

All is missing, I cannot break the link

Velia, thanks. This one was fueled by raw emotion.
Opposite do attract. Always tempting to test unknown territory.

Sometime we want what we cannot have. I do understand the above lines. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are doing well and you are welcome.
Ah, true, I believe...opposites attract. How you started from the very beginning of the love story, ending on a sad note...when something or the other goes out of control...and then, there is loss...hearts break. Very well written!

No problem
Ive always been someone who firmly believes that opposites attract. I have real life examples right infront of me.
I believe people are like puzzles. No two ppl are similar. But. Two can perfectly fit into each other. I am an extrovert...i love making friends acting gooffyy and carefree. Im always attracted to someone the opposite of that. Even in terms of making a best friend !!! Two people somewhat the opposite always balance the other one out. Thats what brings excitement.
I loved this poem. Because. Yes sometimes extreme polar opposites can lead to problems. And the flow of emotions changing here was nicely put. Good job !!

Wow, this has a tempo to it, full of excitement, yet yearning, happiness and sadness, the loss of something so valuable, that you cannot fathom being as you are in this time and space. Well done, I truly was captivated from the start.

Thank you and you are welcomed.
I'm a sucker for opposites attract themes in poetry and you've really nailed this! I love the imagery you bring and the jumbled up rhythm feels like their world is in disrepair. Lovely poem!

Thanks! yes this one did come from the heart
I felt every single word of this. It is a rare thing to find the young to our yang, and to lose it is the greatest grief. Your poem is heart wrenching. Your words are a sad melody echoing softly. Superior writing, and an emotional sledgehammer.

Memory is a ghost, a long shadow that follows wherever we roam. It haunts us and will not let us go. Beautiful!
