Not Broken Promises

Not Broken Promises

A Poem by Ajla

I remember,
once a long time ago,
you told me you would give me time to grow.
I thought you were like the others,
and found an excuse to leave,
because of my dumb mistakes.
After that, I felt unbelievably alone,
because I realize what I did was wrong.
Yet it took so long for me to stop doing
the stupid things I did then.
I've finally figured out all I've done,
and I made a plan to get better,
and it's been working out well.
Ironically,
you came back around and told me you still wanted me.
This gave me the biggest motivation,
I already had the plan set in motion,
so hearing from you showed me that good things pay off.
I'm working towards your forgiveness.
Man..
This might be the realest man I've met,
the most understanding,
patient,
and real
person , human, I've met.
I'll be lucky,
if I get to call you mine one day.
