Titles. Reminds me of the House of Lords. The sooner that is done away with the better. It has no place in a democracy, they are all unelected. As to the Knighthoods and the Dames, well they seem to be awarded for incompetence at present. There’s a few who should lose theirs altogether. Yes, I imagiine many would boast about their awards and get the champagne out. Titles are a luxury we can do without. Give me a roast dinner any day.

If we use titles - and I have mixed feelings about it, slightly in favour - those titles should be deserved. So many simply aren't. A resigning PM, for instance, gives titles to her/his mates, which is a situation that stinks. A House of Lords should be peopled by deserving lords.

Deserving is the word. So many rewarded for failure:)
