They've taken it away,
those officers.
There on the green it had remained
for several days,
giving off a strangeness of sorts,
strangeness, of course.
Yes, this kind of thing
happens from time to time.
The officers who have been here
will be here again. Oh, sure!
Yes, it will have to be removed,
taken away, put away in a place,
after several days.
We talk of it at times,
and to it,
of course.
Before those officers take it away.
Dear Andrew, I have read your poem three times and each time there are new possibilities, but then I tell myself, no it can’t be that. It’s a mystery. What have the officers taken away? It’s an intriguing poem and I will be sure to come back to see what other readers see that I can’t. Your stanzas nicely composed.
Have a great Friday.

I see it as our dark side...there it is, it lingers until taken away...if only the officers can take it away before it does something our good side would not want to allow.

A strange little romp, this bit at the end is a delicious hook, "We talk of it at times, and to it, of course."
The phrasing is wonderfully done, whatever it is. a Seussian quality without the dependency on rhyme. Nicely done. Thanks for the post.
Strangeness indeed. It is just there, we see it, we walk around it, we even step over it but never really pay attention to it until the authorities take it away. Whatever the hell it was. I'm thinking it was ... a poet. Nothing stranger than that. : )
