Love Out Loud

Love Out Loud

A Poem by Aaron Jinks

How about instead of wasting time pulling pedals from a flower,

I run?

I run to her with a poem in mind to win her heart?

A whirl of my fingers creating sounds to sweep her off her feet into my arms?

It won’t be “she loves me, she loves me not,”

my bad luck will find its way into that.

It’ll be, “I’ll do what I can to make her mine.”

No mutilation of a flower needed,

no hoping nervously.

She’s too beautiful for a worried, hopeful pace back and forth giving up time.

She’s sitting alone, waiting on someone to come, I can feel the S.O.S.

I’ll respond to that S.O.S with L.O.L.
