Birdsong

Birdsong

A Poem by Aaron Jinks

Birdsong

I’ve never forgotten that you

sing the birdsong that dances in my ears.

The sounds of a symphony produced by a single,

beautiful voice-

those sounds, those notes lift me higher above the canopy.

I follow that birdsong into your arms,

your lips at the end of this forest.

I’ll follow you to the ends of this expanse,

I only know some of what awaits me at the end,

You, as colorful and as vibrant as a toucan,

love that crashes down like those falls,

eyes like the forest so intimidating,

yet so easy to get lost in.

That birdsong will move me onwards to you.
