False Promises

False Promises

A Poem by Ariella
"

just some late night thoughts

"
are soulmates real?
do they exist
or are they

just figments of
our imaginations to
convince ourselves that

we are worthy
of love and
that we will
eventually find someone?

I think it
is worse to
instil false hopes
in young minds

adults consistently tell
children that they
will find someone.

why get their
hopes up about
something like that?

children will then
grow up to
believe that someone
will swoop in
and finally solve

the puzzle that
is their life,
putting pieces together

and somehow fixing
all their problems

I don’t think
they are real
but I don’t

think I can
really attest to
something so uncertain

that I’ve never
experienced or really
seen firsthand myself

if they are
real then I
want to know

but how can
I know if
they are out
there waiting since
I always end
up pushing people
away from me?

I think a lot of people here like me writing here things about their soulmate. Or they writing things they want to say to that person wherever it is and whoever is that person. I believe that's s because it's just our need to be complete (if I'm saying it right).
I like to reading people's thoughts about that. ..
