when emptiness takes over

it washes it all away

any ounce of happiness

any hint of a smile

is all of a sudden

vanished into thin air 

evaporated like steam

never leaving a trace behind

not a mark, not a stain

just this black hole burning

burning inside your chest

slowly ripping all happy thoughts away

with no chance of getting them back

taking them into the hole

where they sit

forgotten and lonely

and all that you're left with

is a big, black hole

filled with nothing but emptiness
