I never got
a chance to kiss you,
Or even hold
your hand.
I never got
a chance to tell you,
That you’re
my country man.
I never got
a chance to say,
How much you
mean to me.
I never got
a chance to show you,

All that
interests me.

I never got
a chance to tell you,

Why I love
you so.
I never got
a chance to bring you,
Back into my
home.
I never got
a chance to tell you,
What goes
through my head.
I never got
a chance to tell you,
Why I hate
the color red.

I never got
a chance to hold you,

In my loving
arms.

I never got
a chance to tell you,
I’ll never
do you harm.
So if we
ever meet again,
And this boy
hopes we do,
I’m not
gonna pass these chances up,
Because
you’re my country boy, and boy do I love you.
