Your Shadow

Your Shadow

A Poem by A Jackson

You’ve made it clear, I know where I stand

I’m on the sidelines, cheering you on

You want me here, but not too close

I can do this now but I’m falling apart.

You call me and I come running

I’m playing the part, giving myself to you

Your knife in my chest, I’m bleeding out

You can do this today but what if she knew?

I will hold my tongue and wont say a word

I’ll do this for you, if that’s what you want

If you need me here in case it falls apart

I’ll close my eyes and keep holding on.

One day you might open your eyes

And realise your love is a hard hitting blow

One day she might look and see your true light

And notice me weak in your shadow.
