Love

Love

A Poem by Apollos
"

My pastor challenged us to write a love letter to God. Here’s what I came up with.

"
I don’t care if it’s Black or White.
I just want to live in what’s Right.
Not living by sight.
Let my faith carry me tonight.
To the night I’m bright.
The darkness trying to fight.
I give up my life.
I’ll sacrifice for my wife.
Like Christ did for His Bride.
Giving up Your life.
So Your will could be mine.
Human now thinking divine.
Turn the other cheek.
Go the extra mile.
Endure another trial.
I’m burning in the furnace.
Only True Love can cure us.
Believe in faith.
Receive His grace.
Forgive those you ought.
For they know not.
I’m know that I’m bought.
Redeemed I’m Lot.
Not stuck in the spot.
By Him I’m sought.
Love for my enemies.
Treat them friendly.
May I refrain from saying Your name in vain.
How could I profane Your ways?
Teach me Your paths.
Guide me in Your truth.
You are the Author of my salvation.
All the world is Your stage and I play my part.
Your Law is written on my heart.
Your Spirit is the spark.
Stone Heart replaced by Flesh.
I call out to You when I’m distressed.
Man can never impress.
For my hope is in You all day long.
I sing Your song.
Cry when I’m wrong.
Carnal is not where I belong.
Birthed from Your Seed.
Stump of Jesse, I Am a Tree.
Interceding for you & me.
Apart of The Vine.
Grape crushed out so Your righteousness could be found inside.
At Your throne room, Your presence I will not deny.
I have been adopted into Your family and now Your life resides inside.
