Pondering

Pondering

A Poem by Aitikin
"

While the poem may make it out to be over the course of a lifetime, it was closer to a few days, even the last stanza wasn't at all true.

"

As a younger man, I pondered the universe
Wondering what it all could possibly mean
And all I could see was the girl in my dream.

Then I grew up and pondered religion
Wondering at Heaven, Hell, and the face of God
And I couldn't help but see her face again.

Eventually I gave up on religion and pondered philosophy
Wondering on "The Jesus Myth" and "Fides et Ratio"
And I see that girl still won't go away.

Next I grew old and pondered why
Wondering why I can never truly contemplate these things
And yet again I am stuck with visions of her

Now I am old, and lay awake pondering
I lie next to the girl of my dreams
And cannot understand what took me so long!
